I’m reading The Audacity to Win, Obama’s campaign manager David Plouffe’s account of the presidential campaign, and I’ve just learned that the campaign’s mantra for recruiting, managing, and supporting campaign volunteers was ‘respect, empower, include.’

These three words are worth bearing in mind for anybody who provides a public service – particularly I’m thinking of teachers (it would definitely suit High Tech High!) and healthcare providers, that’s just because that’s who I (and some of my colleagues) have been working with recently.
